Book Thoughts: Confessions of a Shopoholic

Confessions of a Shopaholic (Shopaholic, #1)Confessions of a Shopaholic by Sophie Kinsella

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am so happy I decided to reread this book! after all these years I kept remembering the movie! oh how wrong. This book is amazing and will forever be one of my absolute favorite books of all times! Guaranteed to make you burst out laughing and smile! Amazing read!

I  am not sure if there is anyone in 2017 who had not read Sophie Kinsella but if you haven’t….WHY?? I reread this while being in a place where I just need a pick me up, burst out laughing type of book. I couldn’t have chosen a better book.  For me I am not in the season of rereading.New books are not calling out to me but remembering all the memories of Rebecca Bloomwood’s world keep playing in my head and that is when you know it’s time for a reread.

It had been so long that I was actually mistaken the book for the movie! For shame! I was pleasantly surprised at how Derek Smeath was not as horrible as the movie portrayed him and the romance between Luke and Rebecca had a much different take in the movie that the book. So if you are that girl out there saying “Oh I’ve watched the movie” Stahp. Go read the book.

Book Thoughts : Hunted

HuntedHunted by Meagan Spooner

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Competed 1:56 am (couldn’t put it down). I wish this book never ended!!!! I am transformed! Where are the words to describe it! The writing ,the pace, it was perfection. I fell in love so many times that I may have sprained a heart muscle. I lived within every snowfall and breathed the forest. Oh the beast! I can’t imagine moving on from the feels I grew ,I don’t want to! I enjoyed this book so much ! oh my goodness

This Fairy tale retelling of Beauty and the Beast is hands down my absolute favorite so far! I never thought a day would come where I would have been able to state this. It was original enough and did not move too far from the traditional. It was as if I was  reading one of those secret histories, never-been-told about beauty and beast. I was so sad when I got to the end of this tale, so beautifully woven and so relate able. The feeling of constant wanting and never finding contentment is definitely something that I too have struggled with and it was easy to understand that feeling of having nearly everything but still missing something. Highly recommended!

Book Thoughts: Geekerella

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was ssoooooo charming! I am a sucker for a simple ,beautifully written fairy tale retelling. It took me a while to get into this book, I did not feel part of the fandom as I have not done that level of fangirling as I know most people might have but as soon as I picked it up again and got to know these darlings, I was in for the Past midnight reading. I am always impressed with a book when the romance is filled with tummy butterflies and sweet blushes without the characters getting heated in the haystack (not saying I haven’t read my fair share). It was lovely and refreshing how they strolled into love and I definitely appreciated that.

*Not in Goodreads review*

Every time I get started on a fairy-tale retelling I usually expect the cliché  “guy gets with girl” ending. Some people always want a twist or turn or unique but to be honest the cliche IS WHAT I ENJOY THE MOST about it. I don’t know why I just – goodness – I just freaking enjoy simple and cute and sweet. I definitely like  a bit of newness to the plot of course, but  I like knowing what I expect in the end. That same swoon feeling that I get every time I watch Sam and Austen Ames !!! (I suppose I do know a bit about fan girling after-all) a cinderella story

I enjoyed this book ladies and gents. I know you will too.

Book Thoughts: Flame in the Mist

Flame in the Mist (Flame in the Mist, #1)Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yes, it was wonderful just as I knew it would be! I could smell the earth from the forest and feel the cool air every time I turned a page. I was pleasantly surprised at the twists this book took and I could not believe the giant question mark this book ended with. I enjoyed the character development although some things were left unknown which I hope to find in the second book. I fell in love with more people than one. However, I couldn’t help but feel like the main character was overly praised. She seemed to always rattle someone in more ways than one.

Yes, she was a very good and strong character but I felt that if she was in front of me I would first think that she was all talk. I was always waiting for her to back up all the bravado. In the end she did prove to be useful. I anticipate what choices she will make in the future.

The writing style Is beautiful as usual for this author. Poetic and well paced. I enjoyed being transported with the characters in their world and seeing what they saw.

*Fan girl moment*

From the moment I met Shazi and Khalid in the Wrath and the Dawn I had no hesitation coming into this book. OH HOW I MISS THEM. But trust me ladies the love interest in  Flame and the Mist is just as Mysterious and sizzling! Let your imagination go wild darlings! It was a wonderful journey that I would definitely recommend and hope that you all experience it too.

Book Thoughts: The Heirs

I rarely read the synopsis of a book so that I am sprung into a surprising world on my own. The first chapter dragged for me. I was not used to reading books like this one in a very long time.  I have only been reading YA madness for the past year. When I arrived at chapter two it was safe to say that I was definitely enjoying The Heirs by Susan Reiger. I was unable to rush this book. The pace was comfortable and not excruciatingly slow. I found myself taking time to read it but not feeling the need to rush.
This book reminded me of a classy gossip tale. We are literally experiencing every secret as it unfolds. The thing is that the more you know, the more you want to find out. We are shown the present and past of the characters which enables you to assess each person individually. I was guilty of judging them by their past forgetting my thoughts of who they were presently and I could imagine Eleanor chastising me for it
The stories and characters were beautifully written. Family life was the heaviest theme. From different perspectives we learned each person’s personality both the good and the bad. We saw how they each reacted to the secrets that were being revealed not just about their deceased father, but among themselves.
This book raises many interesting questions on love in marriage, it’s importance, it’s presence or lack there of and the ability of a marriage to either survive or fail on the simple assumption of love’s existence.  To me the subject of marriage in this book was bitter and apologetically realistic. However, Eleanor and Rupert never let the question of love stop them from having what appeared to have been a successful marriage.I enjoyed the reminder that the past should not rewrite the present.
Eleanor was  my favorite. Her mysterious air seemed to bind everything and everyone together. She was sophisticated and classy and witty in handling situations and we learned about her naughty side as well! I enjoyed how the author was able to connect everything together in the end.  Although I do not ever think that I would be able to keep up at a dinner with the Falkes.
All in all it was a very interesting read hard to get into on the first chapter but i was in for the ride by the second. It was a good break from my usual YA  and a wonderful opportunity to learn new vocabulary!

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review. So exciting!

Book Thoughts: Heartless

HeartlessHeartless by Marissa Meyer

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I cannot remember another ending that has traumatized me so. I loved reading this book so much that I am quite glad that it is a stand alone. I could not possibly have taken any more of that ending. Even my review feels at a loss for words. The worst part is that you  dread the ending from the very beginning.

Jest may be my new favorite book boyfriend.OMG he was just…so ..pure. Although I really cannot give away the number one spot which now holds Wolf from Marissa Meyer’s Scarlet from the lunar chronicles.so I will just have Jest sit here on number Two.I could not stand Catherine sometimes because I feel like if she had just decided earlier .I know it was a tough situation but goodness.

Marissa Meyer however is now hands down my new favorite author next to Rainbow Rowell. I’ve been trying to note the authors so that I can begin to see my type of book pleasure. I used to devour books without even knowing who wrote them. That has got to stop!

If you enjoyed Heartless by Marissa Meyer, let me know!
